THE BIG IDEA

We started the Write_On campaign in 2014 with our friends, our families, and our fans to help boost our letter writing output, hoping to create a habit by doing so. We quickly found that the benefits and the power in handwritten correspondence reinforced our need to write, that connecting with others through letters was central to our wellbeing, and we were hooked.

Challenge yourself to write more during National Letter Writing Month. Then notice the impact. Share your letter writing, card decorating, envelope art, and your stories using #Write_On2021.

We’re still collecting stories about the 2016 Write_On Challenge and what it meant to the people who participated. During this year’s challenge 10,000 participants wrote nearly 300,000 letters! The meaning of letters: Write_On 2016 is a compilation of quotes from participants and interviews from letter writers who attended our Write_On kick-off event. We want to share these words and stories in hopes that they inspire you to pick up a pen and send a letter or encourage you to think about letter writing in a different way. Write_On is a campaign to promote joy, creativity, expression, and connection through hand-written correspondence. Inspired by Egg Press founder Tess Darrow’s challenge to herself to write a letter daily and to form a habit, the campaign officially launched in April 2014. The entire staff of Egg Press and Hello!Lucky challenged ourselves, our friends, our families, and our fans to write 30 letters in 30 days over the month of April, National Letterwriting Month.
